Originally designed as a centre of excellence for research and development of thermally sprayed coatings, the Newport facility offers all the equipment, services and expertise required to evaluate the use of coatings on a wide variety of applications.

This declaration of competence is supported by the open and collaborative way in which the company operates. All clients are invited to visit the Newport coating facility to view and evaluate the services available and inspect operating and quality procedures.
Now established as the company's 'core business', contract services continues to expand with the demand for thermal spray coatings. Operating with ISO 9002 and ISO 14001 clients are supported by the highest level of quality and committed delivery dates in the industry.

All spray cells are fully automated with sound attenuated booths and robotics. Parameters are permanently recorded as well as coating property data to ensure quality and repeatability.
Pre-machining and finish grinding are provided by fully audited, quality assured sub-contact workshops offering clients 'turn-key' manufactured and finish coated components.
Over the last few years, an increasing number of clients have sought the benefit of a reduced number of suppliers. By offering a 'One Stop Shop', Plasma and Thermal Coatings Ltd are pleased to be able to support this requirement. Working closely with numerous quality assured associate companies, components can be manufactured, coated and finished to customer specifications and delivered, with significant reductions in lead times and improved quality. Components are processed under strict Quality Management and are delivered with full inspection reports and certification.

WINDER ROLLS - manufactured, coated and finished
As an independent privately owned company, Plasma & Thermal Coatings Ltd has no restrictions on the selection and supply of equipment or materials. Our clients therefore are recommended the best, most suitable equipment specifically tailored to meet exact requirements.
Supported by the expertise demonstrated at the Newport facility, Clients can be assured that they receive the optimum workstations, software and consumables, delivered and commissioned for maximum value and return on capital expenditure. System performance, Coating quality, economics, flexibility, safety, reliability and environmental impact are some of the factors that must be addressed when considering the design and installation of these systems.
Quality coatings begin with the selection of the most suitable coating material (powders and wires). Deposit efficiency, hardness, bond strength, density and economics are just a few characteristics influenced by the material of choice. Plasma & Thermal Coatings Ltd 'hands on' thermal spray experience has helped in understanding why certain materials, in the form of a thermally sprayed coating, gives specific properties.
Plasma & Thermal Coatings Ltd close association with 'Thermal Spray Alliance' group enables clients to source a vast range of equipment, consumables and materials such as Carbides, Ceramics, Metals/Alloys direct from Flame Spray Technologies b.v. based in the Netherlands.
Training courses are conducted for all aspects of thermal spraying, from surface preparation to final inspection. Conducted either in our premises or 'hands on' using equipment and components at the clients facility.
Full training is also offered with systems supplied by Plasma & Thermal Coatings, this is support structured to provide clients staff with appropriate expertise to operate with autonomy.
Developing applications for production is not always a simple task, with the need for tooling, masking, materials handling and organising an integrated system of preparation, the challenge of producing coated components economically without 'bottlenecks' can be a complex task.
This area is a speciality for Plasma & Thermal Coatings with several members of staff experienced with tackling such issues. Whether looking at increasing productivity through sub contractors or 'In house', the company welcomes the opportunity to contribute towards achieving client objectives.

Working with clients, developing applications or unique coatings, often 'in house' production proves to be the most economical when considering high volumes. Plasma & Thermal Coatings Ltd support this by providing confidential 'Technology Transfer'. Whether seeking a 'shop in shop' facility or integrated 'turn-key' system supply, it is essential to make the learning curve as short as possible.
When working on joint venture, commercially sensitive projects, Plasma & Thermal Coatings Ltd are able to protect valuable information by providing licensees exclusive rights to applied coating technology.
